After the B-A-C-H tribute suddenly I was kind of sad, it was a very difficult challenge, to write it but even more to play it. And there was this emptiness, I was still a bit tired after the China tour and of course the recording, but I was already searching for the next challenge.
Well, it is more Liszt…
As a student in Budapest at the Franz Liszt Music Academy back in the seventies we had the Liszt international competitions, that for me was always a great “entertainment”. We didn’t have to go to the competition if we had no time or simply wanted to have some relax at home, but is was always live in the radio broadcast. I remember to listen some times 4, 5 times to the same Liszt concerto but it was just wonderful, to guess who would win, and so on.
The music of Liszt was very much part of our life in Hungary, I am sure is still that way today, however, after I left the country I was wondering that we hardly ever played Liszt and on recital programs also seldom could enjoy his enthusiastic, very emotional music.
One of our students, after a student recital has decided to learn one of Liszt’s very well known Nocturne, the Liebestraum, Love Dream. His decision gave me the kick and now I have it ready, for solo violin, this beautiful romantic piece.
And for the fun, I also made a violin/harp version of Liszt’s very famous Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2.
I am planning to record the solo piece after my Japan tour some time end of April. The other piece still needs some work, hopefully we will have the chance with Katrina to play it some time soon.
Of course the sheet music will be available very soon right here at our store.
